At this point in history, when everyone seems to be yelling all the time, the words of people who speak rarely and with intention carry the most weight. Watch for those who recognize the power in reserving their anger for truly important causes. Often these voices are the ones pointing us in the right direction. There is an ocean of wrongness and offense on the Internet; trying to correct it all is like trying to empty the ocean with a thimble. It is impossible and not what God has called us to.

John Wesley

I will not quarrel with you about my opinion only see that your heart is right toward God; that you know and love the Lord Jesus Christ, that you love your neighbour and walk as your master walked and I desire no more. I am sick of opinions; am weary to bear them; my soul loathes this frothy food. Give me a solid and substantial religion; give me a humble, gentle lover of God and man; and men full of mercy in good faith, without partiality and without hypocrisy; a man laying himself out in the work of faith, the patience of hope, the labour of love. Let my soul be with these Christians wheresoever they are, and whatsoever opinion they are of!

Joyce Meyer

Today, Lord I am going to do my best with Your help and for Your glory. I realize that there are many different people in the world with a variety of opinions and expectations. I will concentrate on being a God-pleaser and not a self-pleaser or man-pleaser. The rest I leave in Your hands, Lord. Grant me favour with You and with men and continue transforming me into the image of Your dear Son.

It seems that when censorship rears its controlling head, it’s in response to one thing — Fear. People try to squelch what they fear. The question remains whether or not we will let fear rule us in speaking out about what we believe. No matter what happens with Twitter, Facebook, or Google, I am confident that, just like those who have gone before us — the Great Cloud of Witnesses, we will find a way to spread the Good News during this season in which so many need healing and hope. Let’s take some risk today to share the Good News, proclaiming that God has a good purpose and a good plan for each person, no matter what they have, or have not heard, in the past (Jeremiah 29:11).

I see much of social media and populist news outlets to be nothing more than cyber coliseums, where people flock to watch as others are first reduced to caricatures of their real selves, then are torn to shreds. It grieves me to no end that self-proclaimed Christians sit in the stands, cheering just as lustily as the rest of those who gobble up the sensationalized and misrepresented spew that so-called news outlets pour out on a daily basis. I choose to pray and to not look on such tragedies as fodder for idle conversation.

A thought occurs to me as I see some people marvel that they have thousands of friends and followers on Social Media as if numbers legitimize or diminish their ministry They are sadly mistaken. We all have a ministry, whether it is to a handful of people or whether it be to millions. God doesn’t look at numbers, He looks at hearts we leave our imprint upon.

Christ had twelve close disciples, he had a relationship with each of them, he knew everyone by name, he knew their heart, and they knew his.

Who are you really influencing today? What is the fruit of your ministry?
