Jesus’ comment about how serious it is to cause a child to stumble reveals the jealous, protective love of the Father for His lost, orphaned children—which includes all of us. Jesus went to the Cross to avenge the stolen innocence and broken trust we all inherited after the Fall. When He declared that we all had to be “born again,” He was saying, “We’re going to start this trust thing over again. I’m placing you in the Father’s arms, where you are going to experience unconditional love, acceptance, and care. He is going to meet your needs when you cry out to Him—especially your need to be loved. You’re going to learn how to trust again. And you’re going to be able to build relationships with Me and one another, relationships where your heart will be satisfied.”

The way to know that God exists is to trust Him. The way to know that electricity exists is not by theory but by using it. Simply begin believing God, act on it and doubts will disappear. Live as if there were a God and you will know there is. Faith in God is our own natural ability made operative by the Holy Spirit. To use faith is to be led by the Holy Spirit. God is not “my faith in God”, but He comes to me when I am prepared to trust Him. Try today. It really works. God bless you.

When faced with a devastating crisis remember this:

God says He will
… still be the cornerstone of my life.
… protect me.
… lift my head high.
… restore my joy.
… give me peace that passes understanding.
… put me back together.
… open my eyes to new opportunities.
… lead me to triumph.
… make me wiser and stronger as a result of this trial.
… catch me.
… help me in my time of need.
… hear my cry.
… breathe life into me.
… cover me.
… draw close to me.
… send His angels to comfort me.

When we ask God to protect us, we can be held back by our need to see God perform in an anticipated way. This action might make us miss the next step that we are supposed to take. We must never approach God with expectations of how He will answer or with specific time frames that we require. Quiet trust does not make God prove Himself. It says, God will protect me the way He wants. What I get to do is follow Him.

Some years ago my husband bought me a telescope for our living room so that I can look out and enjoy the ocean. When I look through the lens, I can see the ocean……but I have to adjust it and focus in on things to really enjoy the beauty of what I’m seeing. I think this is what is happening as I look for God in difficult moments. It has given me a new “guideline” of what to do in my times of need. I look to Him I focus on Him. lifting up my need to Him. I choose to direct my attention to His goodness and mercy instead of concentrating on what I need. The change of focus is powerful.
