Come, and however feeble you feel, just wait in His presence. As a feeble, sickly invalid is brought out into the sunshine to let its warmth go through him, come with all that is dark and cold in you into the sunshine of God’s holy, omnipotent love, and sit and wait there, with the one thought: Here I am, in the sunshine of His love. As the sun does its work in the weak one who seeks its rays, God will do His work in you. Oh, do trust Him fully. “Wait on the Lord! Be strong, and let your heart take courage! Yea, wait thou on the Lord!”

Alan King

Jesus remains the absolute point of everything. He is the one our eyes fasten on, the one our heart longs for and the one who is worth losing everything to gain. That eternal perspective, that intimacy with Him, that hunger and longing, that romance and that realization that He is everything we could ever need, is the constant answer to every assault from the devil. We laugh in the face of adversity, knowing that we have a perfect Saviour who brings a joy that few ever truly experience. We cannot function without that joy. It is the driving force that both sustains and nourishes us. It is indeed our constant strength. When we lack answers, His joy lifts us above the questions and positions us in a place of perfect peace. We remain childlike because we trust Him with every fibre of our being. We play at the feet of the One who is love. We dare not stray into our own intellect but pursue the wisdom that simply says ‘Yes Jesus.’ As we drown in the tidal waves of His love, we find a footing that is solid, secure and beautiful.

One thing has been made clear to me in this time — Jesus is our only source of reliable hope. Our source of peace. Our source of joy. Our source of love. While the world around us may be filled with chaos and confusion, I’m reminded that you and I are carriers of the hope of Jesus. We are filled with His peace, His power, and His presence. We have the opportunity to reflect and impart the light of Jesus to others around us.

Ed Stetzer

Our idols are not golden calves or carved statues. Idolatry is not tied to any specific idol; it exists whenever we look to someone or something in the world around us to save and satisfy us. Just as every age has its own problems, each has a fresh cast of new idols it creates to solve them. We reject the refreshing and rest-filled salvation of the Lord and hew for ourselves cisterns that give the illusion of holding water but are really bottomless pits. Try as we might, every new cistern fails, and we are left looking for some new solution to our temptations, fears, anxieties, and self-righteousness. The insidious lie of idols is that they prey on our hope. Every day they demand our work and devotion, offering nothing in return but promising us that “just a little more” will do it.

Rob wrote this in the midst of his cancer treatment. He came through the other side, so can you.
“I feel nearly helpless against the pain. But I still have the power to choose. I can anchor my heart and mind to fear and self-pity until they drown me. Or, I can take Jesus’ outstretched hand, and walk with him in faith, hope, and love. That, I’ve found, is the real difference between dying and living.”
