I personally avoid doom-and-gloom predictions like the plague. It takes no faith at all to make negative forecasts about the days ahead. We are called believers, therefore it is necessary that we live by faith. If God wanted us to live by sight instead The one who hurries delays the things of God.of by faith, He would have called us facters and not believers. It is my conviction that God’s divine truth overrides man’s finite facts. I am convinced that God has an answer before we ever have a problem. After all, Jesus was crucified before the foundation of the world.
God will invade. But I wonder whether people who ask God to interfere openly and directly in our world quite realise what it will be like when He does. When that happens, it is the end of the world. When the author walks on to the stage the play is over. God is going to invade, all right: but what is the good of saying you are on His side then, when you see the whole natural universe melting away like a dream and something else – something it never entered your head to conceive – comes crashing in; something so beautiful to some of us and so terrible to others that none of us will have any choice left? For this time it will God without disguise; something so overwhelming that it will strike either irresistible love or irresistible horror into every creature. It will be too late then to choose your side. There is no use saying you choose to lie down when it has become impossible to stand up. That will not be the time for choosing; it will be the time when we discover which side we really have chosen, whether we realised it before or not. Now, today, this moment, is our chance to choose the right side. God is holding back to give us that chance. It will not last for ever. We must take it or leave it.
We are not to be like horses and mules, without understanding, needing to be prodded and yanked by bits and bridles (Psalm 32:9). From now on, the summons to repentance, and the announcement of God’s kingdom on earth as in heaven, come not through wars, earthquakes, famines or plagues… They come through Jesus.
Sometimes, you can judge a book by its cover. Remember this the next time you read the last book of the Bible. Its title page is emblazoned with these words, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 1:1) and not “The Revelation of How the World will End.” If you study this book only to decipher it for hidden clues of the end times, you are missing the greatest signpost of all, the blazing eyes of Jesus, calling for His bride.
Any claim to tell from world events when the ‘second coming’ will occur is a claim to know more than Jesus himself (Mark 13.32). Jesus himself is the reason why people should turn from idolatry, injustice and all wickedness. The cross is where all the world’s sufferings and horrors have been heaped up and dealt with. The resurrection is the launch of God’s new creation, of his sovereign saving rule on earth – starting with the physical body of Jesus himself.
When the Messiah comes, many will try to play their own songs on His harp. The results will be tragically dissonant. On the Messiah’s harp, you must play His own song — the song of His eternal glory with God; the song of His humiliation as a babe in a manger; the song of a life in sorrow, opposition and poverty on Earth; the song of His being whipped and crucified and buried; and finally the song of His resurrection, ascension and enthronement in heaven. Then the harp will give a beautiful sound. His congregation will shine like a sun.

Wait for a King who already reigns,
Wait for a Kingdom they’re already in
Wait to become what they already are,
Wait for power that they already have,
Wait for an Age that they’re already in,
Wait for victory that’s already been won,
Wait to do, what they should already be doing.
