Step back when you begin to beg God to move from a posture of panic,  Check your body posture. Are your hands clenched? Is your face scrunched up? Take a deep breath, exhale, then ask yourself the following questions. Do you believe God is a good God and your Heavenly Father? Are you praying out of fear that he isn’t listening or won’t answer you unless you prove to him how desperate you are?

If so, calm your heart, remind yourself of the truth, and pray from a place of trust that God’s care is unwavering. Rest assured, you are always heard, knowing that God cares more about your situation than you do. Pray with the sure knowledge that you are a child of God and that He knows your voice and hears your faintest whisper.

God’s affirmation doesn’t condone our sin, and it doesn’t acquiesce in our mediocrity. He calls us to repentance and holiness and discipleship. But he begins with a simple, unconditional affirmation: I love you. You are my daughter. You are my son. With you I am well pleased. When we embrace that affirmation, we make a good start. We don’t start falteringly, hesitantly, guiltily, waiting for rejection, or wondering when we will get cut from the squad. We start on the right foot, embraced and embracing the God who loves us and has an eternal salvation for us.

Here is the ultimate evidence that we are God’s own children; we address God with the same term of intimate relationship that Jesus Himself used. We are not slaves but children. The Spirit has taken us far beyond mere conformity to religious obligation. God Himself … has come to indwell His people and He has sealed that relationship by given to them the language of His Son, the language of personal relationship. For Paul and us this is the ultimate expression of grace.
