Psalm 23 says The Lord is my Shepherd, which means you are a sheep. The Bible says that He is the Potter and we are the clay, which means you are the clay, not the potter, it is not your job to shape you and it is not your job to lead you. It is your job to be dependent on the Potter and upon the Shepherd, upon the Comforter, and upon the One who leads you. Your job is to be led.

If my brothers and sisters in Christ continue to tell me something about myself that I do not see as true and accurate, I must come to a place where I trust the body, looking at me objectively, more than I trust myself, looking at me subjectively. This is especially true when we are dealing with people who know and love us, those who live and serve in close proximity. Praise God for loving Christian spouses, siblings, and even children in whom both the Spirit of God and a willingness to be lovingly honest abide.

It is not the task of Christianity to provide easy answers to every question, but to make us progressively aware of a mystery. God is not so much the object of our knowledge as the cause of our wonder.

Listing God's attributes is helpful, but the danger in doing so is that we conceive of God as being made up of different parts (attributes). We are then tempted to play the parts against each other: His love against His justice, His goodness against His wrath. It’s more accurate to say wherever we “slice” God, we get all of His attributes in all their totality. They cannot be separated.

Remember: whatever you choose to think will build physical structures in your brain. Toxic thoughts build toxic structures and toxic habits which will impact your mental and physical health that’s why it’s so important to live a self-regulated life. Check in with your thoughts, question them, and choose what to accept!

It was anger that caused Moses to miss God’s highest for his own life. When Moses struck the rock in anger (see Num. 20), it was a distortion of the glory of God. Moses misrepresented God as one who is easily angered. Amazingly, the water flowed irrespective of Moses’ anger; however, he was refused the privilege of entering the Promised Land with the people whom he had led. It is important to note that Moses did not lose his salvation—he appears later on the Mount of Transfiguration with Jesus (see Matt. 17:3), but he lost the opportunities and privileges that were part of his earthly inheritance.

We don’t have to have all the answers. We just have to stay connected to the One who does.

Sometime, in an airport, observe the difference between passengers holding confirmed tickets and those on standby. The ones with confirmed tickets read newspapers, chat with their friends or sleep. The ones on standby hang around the ticket counter and pace. The confidence factor causes the difference. If you knew that you would have to stand in judgment before the Holy God and learn your eternal destiny in fifteen minutes, what would your reaction be? Would you smoke and pace? Would you say to yourself, "I don't know what God's going to say - will it be 'Welcome home, child,' or will it be 'Depart from me; I never knew you'?

Jesus, help me to simplify my life by learning what you want me to be, and becoming that person.

So often, we are paralyzed by the fear of missing God's will. We do not move because we are waiting for 10 confirmations. Here's the deal, most times you are going to have to step out in faith, to find out if it's God. God is big enough to redirect you if you're wrong.
