Proverbs 18:16 “A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.” David did everything a king could do before he even sat on the throne. By the time he was actually in the office of king, it was obvious to everyone he belonged there.
Your most important step is your first step. No one has ever won a race that didn’t get in the game. Don’t let the idea of being perfect stand in the way of getting starting.
The reason God values process is because process requires relationship. By shortcutting the process we actually shortcut relationship and short change ourselves.
I have learned that breaking free from the shackles of shame is not an overnight experience or a quick-fix, ten-step process. It is, however, a grand, ongoing adventure of discovering the depths of God’s love and the huge scope of God’s power to transform us, re-create us, and continually renew us.
God did not bring the man after His heart straight from the pasture to the palace. Incredibly, David did not assume the throne until 10-13 years after Samuel had anointed him to be king. In those interim years, David endured more difficulty, persecution, and rejection than many of us face in a lifetime. He probably didn’t expect it to take so long to become king.
