Dusty Bibles always lead to dirty lives. In fact, you are either in the Word and the Word is conforming you to the image of Jesus Christ, or you are in the world and the world is squeezing you into its mold.

My faith has found a resting place, not in device nor creed; I trust the ever-living One, his wounds for me shall plead. I need no other argument, I need no other plea, It is enough that Jesus died, and that he died for me.
Francis Frangipane
God can never entrust His Kingdom to anyone who has not been broken of pride, for pride is the armor of darkness itself.

Confession is telling God (our Abba, Father) the truth about our sin; but too often we live as if we have no need for his forgiveness. What a odd blessing when God uses the pain of our "blundering" and "bungling" to bring us to our knees and draw us back into a proper relationship with him!

Our god is the thing, or person, which we think most precious, for whom we would make the greatest sacrifice, and who moves our heart with the warmest love. He is the person or thing that if lost would leave us desolate.

What good would outward appearance be, if the soul were in hopeless darkness? To strive to keep our bodies fit and healthy is good, but a fit and healthy soul is even better.

Many things are possible for the person who has hope. Even more is possible for the person who has faith. And still more is possible for the person who knows how to love. But everything is possible for the person who practices all three virtues.

Isn't is amazing that almost everyone has an opinion to offer about the Bible, and yet so few have studied it?

Today, we seem to lead not so much with power but with wisdom, which in many cases is not so much wisdom as human knowledge or doctrine. And in the worst cases, it is nothing more than hollow, "feel good" motivational talk. This leads people to have a positive opinion about Jesus but not a life-changing conviction. An opinion is what we think about something and is subject to revision. A conviction is what determines our behavior.
Oswald Chambers
Can Jesus Christ see the agony of His soul in us? He can't unless we are so closely identified with Him that we have His view concerning the people for whom we pray. May we learn to intercede so wholeheartedly that Jesus Christ will be completely and overwhelmingly satisfied with us as intercessors.
