I do not mean to minimise the pain and heartache of the difficult experiences of this life. The Scripture itself says that for the moment, that is in this life, all the disciplines of adversity seem painful rather than pleasant.(Hebrews 12:11) Nor does Paul minimise our sufferings. He simply says they’re not worth comparing with the glory of our inheritance that is to come. He does not minimise our pain. Rather, He maximises our inheritance.
