When we face circumstances that cause stress or anxiety – whatever they are – the first thing to do is to go to our heavenly father and tell him about all of our troubles. Paul calls that “prayer.” Prayer is the reset button we need to engage when things go wrong in life.
Worry
John Newton
I compare the troubles which we have to undergo in the course of the year to a great bundle of fagots, far too large for us to lift. But God does not require us to carry the whole at once. He mercifully unties the bundle, and gives us first one stick, which we are to carry today, and then another, which we are to carry tomorrow, and so on. This we might easily manage, if we would only take the burden appointed for each day; but we choose to increase our troubles by carrying yesterday’s stick over again today, and adding tomorrow’s burden to the load, before we are required to bear it.
Vance K Jackson
When you decide to hold on to your burdens you’re erecting an altar that worships your cares instead of redirecting your heart to worshipping God.
John Ortberg Jr.
Never worry alone. When anxiety grabs my mind, it is self-perpetuating. Worrisome thoughts reproduce faster than rabbits, so one of the most powerful ways to stop the spiral of worry is simply to disclose my worry to a friend… The simple act of reassurance from another human being [becomes] a tool of the Spirit to cast out fear — because peace and fear are both contagious.
George Foster
Worry is common, it’s not good for us, it accomplishes little, and it dishonors the God who cares for us. Worry may be our most enduring form of unbelief.
James Goll
“Don’t be afraid of tomorrow; God is already there.” God made everything. He made the sun and the moon and called it a Day. God created time for man but God is not limited to our comprehension of time. God is already there in your tomorrow; so cast your cares upon Him. He cares for you! In other words, “Thou shalt not sweat it!”
Katherine Walden
God never promised us a trouble-free life. However, He does challenge us to live a worry-free life.
Woodrow Kroll
If our minds are stayed upon God, His peace will rule the affairs entertained by our minds. If, on the other hand, we allow our minds to dwell on the cares of this world, God’s peace will be far from our thoughts.
Max Lucado
How can a person deal with anxiety? You might try what one fellow did. He worried so much that he decided to hire someone to do his worrying for him. He found a man who agreed to be his hired worrier for a salary of $200,000 per year. After the man accepted the job, his first question to his boss was, “Where are you going to get $200,000 per year?” To which the man responded, “That’s your worry.
Rick Warren
The more you pray, the less you’ll panic. The more you worship, the less you worry. You’ll feel more patient and less pressured.
