Some years ago my husband bought me a telescope for our living room so that I can look out and enjoy the ocean. When I look through the lens, I can see the ocean……but I have to adjust it and focus in on things to really enjoy the beauty of what I’m seeing. I think this is what is happening as I look for God in difficult moments. It has given me a new “guideline” of what to do in my times of need. I look to Him I focus on Him. lifting up my need to Him. I choose to direct my attention to His goodness and mercy instead of concentrating on what I need. The change of focus is powerful.

It’s so easy to get distracted by the “noise” of the world around me – especially with all the craziness of our current world. There is so much happening that screams for our attention! I often have to consciously work at being still – even when I’m physically weak. But, when I quieten all the other voices, I love hearing His precious whispers!
I don’t know about you, but I need to hear His holy whispers into my heart more than ever before. I can’t make it without Him. I need His love, His care, His guidance, His peace. I am so, so grateful that God speaks to me!

Think of life as a race along an obstacle course. This is not a race against others, rather a personal endurance race to make it to the end. From the moment we leave the starting blocks we should no longer be concerned with what happened behind us, since we can’t do anything to change it. We must use all our strength and skill to navigate what lies ahead. We must reach the finish line at all cost.
